"We've had SDMEs on ageing pop & location of new towns so far with this spec. Not to say it couldn't be these again, and as Danny suggests, probably with a SW bias. I think it would be a missed opportunity to not do something about…"

SDME June 2017

Sad to see the ning on it's way. We are jumping ship to EdExcel after this cohort. It has been a life saver since starting in teaching in 2011 and becoming head of dept 3 yrs later. Thanks for all the discussions and sharing.One last brainstorm request from me before we go....thoughts on the direction for SDME June 2017 - Population and Settlement theme?- migration control- population management- land use change- settlement location???I am not looking forward to this one.... :sSee More

I really think OCR have let down a number of students with regard to the marking of the SDME, is it through a lack of markers or incompetence never quite sure. We definitely have irregularities in marking of the SDME this year.See More

"We're moving to Edexcel for the new spec. Too many things about new OCR we don't like. I guess the main thing we'll miss if the current spec Ning goes will be sharing resources for the final SDME & Themes exams. I predict next…"

"I have had a D move to a B! If you have tracked them well enough, tested them well enough and know that they couldn't have got that grade send it for remark. I am less likely to send 1 mark off students who have always been borderline than dead…"

"Thanks Tony. It's what I suspected, but a bit annoying when you give CA a certain mark out of 60, it's not adjusted by the moderator, but shows as one mark lower UMS. Especially when students are one mark off the grade boundary!"
